what does the word identity mean to you as an artist?
Identity is strategic. It is the way you choose to perform to accommodate the needs of any given moment. Identity should not be time-stuck. It should be in flux, ad hoc, autopoetic, improvisational, NOMADIC! "automatic""automata", and laced with the protocol of "an ironic dream of common language for women in the integrated circuit"(haraway) in order for the identity to build significance only to be broken down, altered, and then built up again! Identity is an alien life form. (breaking down and building up all at the same time.) Its one of those things we would need new math(s)/science(s) to really get into it but.. Conventionally speaking it relies on preconceived notions of types of fixations to help navigate social mobility but it could actually have to do with time travel? im not sure.

what role has community played in shaping your identity as an artist? Well, Kurt Cobain says it the best "I throw out vibes, they throw vibes back and we just play catch with vibes man." I have different shades of community. To accentuate a few: There are the people I collaborate with, and we usually get really stoned before practice and we'll go crazygo nuts. they will stand on countertops with me and move in slow motion for hours. This is a chance for me to implement a lot of my ideas for gesturing, movement, and new walky-talking wrong. Theres the community of mentors I have, people that have been living performance for awhile. They let me study them and I usually receive pretty mellow returns. The community of cops, i dont even know if they've ever been to a show. But no I dont feel particularly supported by them, but speaking of which, I do think violence has helped to shape my infinite identities. Theres my extended network of friends who teach me new ways(often unknowingly) of killing ego. Community is like infinity depending on how you look at it. If you're not feeling supported/challenged by one then name another one. Any number of things that have a shared interest or desire can be a community. There are a lot of communities ive never met that have influenced my identities. I have read about some of them: the school for designing a society, potatoes(rhizomes), the Scythians, the people that make my clothes and food, mothers, and poets.

3) what (if any) identity would you give yourself as an artist? chameleon
